The Chuck Wagon Gang Welcomes Kelly Jennings
« Thread Started on Sept 17, 2009, 12:31am »

Press Release - For Immediate Release 09/16/09

(Pigeon Forge, TN) - The Chuck Wagon Gang welcomes our newest member, Kelly Jennings, from Kingsport, TN. Kelly replaces alto singer, Penny Greene, who has left the group to be with her family. Penny will be greatly missed by both the group and her many fans, and we wish her a bright and successful future.

Kelly, age 29, started singing as a child at the age of two and has had a love for gospel music all of her life. She grew up in a church that sang accapella music only and there she found a great love for harmony. She accepted Christ as the age of 18, and sang at every opportunity. Years later, she co-founded The Living Waters Trio.

"My love for gospel music has no boundaries, and I have had many musical influences in my life. I grew up listening to so many wonderful groups, including The Chuck Wagon Gang," stated Kelly. "I can remember driving to church many mornings as a child and my mom and dad turning on the radio. I'll never forget that the station started out each morning with The Chuck Wagon Gang singing 'I'll Fly Away'. What an honor it was to receive a phone call from them for an audition. What an honor it is to now be a part of this legendary group that God has blessed for so many years! I'm looking forward to my new journey and I know that God has put me with some of the greatest people on earth."

"We are pleased that we found this very talented lady and that Kelly accepted our invitation to join the group," said Dave Emery, manager, bass singer and guitarist for the group. "During the interview and audition process, Kelly agreed with and met our expectations. We believe she will be a great asset to continue the ministry focus of The Chuck Wagon Gang."

Kelly, her husband Travis, and son Elijah, age 6, make their home in Kingsport, TN and are very supportive of her singing.

Kelly's first appearance with the Chuck Wagon Gang will be on September 22nd at Tony Gore's Smoky Mountain Barbeque and Grill in Sevierville, TN. For our fans attending National Quartet Convention this week, we invite you to come by our booth (8B in front of the food court) and meet Kelly and welcome her to the group.

The Chuck Wagon Gang, now in their 74th year as an organized group, currently operates out of Pigeon Forge, TN, with a Nashville office as well. In addition to Kelly, current members are Dave Emery, Julie Hudson, Stan Hill, and Joe Rotton. Recording for Song Garden Music group, the groups current single, "Keep Travelin' On" from their release by the same title, is currently being featured on radio.

For further information call 888-319-1021 or bookings, Call Dave Emery 817-944-2538.

Welcome to the Chuck Wagon Gang, Kelly. I enjoyed meeting you at NQC, and look forward to hearing you sing, probably at Renfro Valley in mid-October.

On September 26th, at the Cave City Convention Center, in Cave City, Ky. I had the opportunity to hear Kelly sing. It was probably her 3rd stage performance with the group. There were around 400 in attendance. I was amazed how well the group sounded. After the first part of the concert I turn to my wife and she agreed that it was the best first half of a Chuck Wagon Gang concert, sound wise, that we have ever attended. We shared this information with each group member. I would tell you that I don't know how Dave can replace members and still keep that great sound, however, I do know because Dave told me himself that he prayed long and hard and then called Kelly. I hope to see the group again, next week, when they visit the Ag Center in Cartilage, Tn.
